At Home Support Services is a domiciliary care agency providing support to older people in their own homes. At the time of the inspection 11 people were using this service for their personal care needs.

This was a planned inspection based on the previous rating of the service which was also 'require improvement'.

The CQC had rated the service as requires improvement overall, also receiving this rating under the areas of 'Safe' and Well-Lead'. However relatives and people supported by the service felt staff knew them well and understood their needs.

The CQC had concerns around the oversight of risk management and documenting risks adequately, especially around medication. Though people supported and their relatives said they received their medications safely the CQC said that the there needed to be improvements in the documentation and monitoring of medications. The report stated: "We found no evidence that people had been harmed however, systems were either not in place or robust enough to demonstrate people's personal risks and medicines was effectively managed."

On a more positive note the CQC did consider the service to be effective, giving it a rating of 'Good' in this area. The CQC said that  people's outcomes were consistently good, and both user of the service and their relatives confirmed this when asked for feedback. The report stated: "Relatives felt staff were well trained and understood how to care for people appropriately"
